Meet the Team – Account Manager, Alice

22 Jun 2020

Get to know Alice MacNicol, our newest Account Manager at Sports Booker, who will be the first point of contact with our existing and new clients.  Alice joined the Sports Booker team in March and brings with her a wealth of experience from her previous roles, as well as a love of all things sport. We caught up with Alice to find out more about her and what life is like working for Sports Booker.

Tell us a little about yourself?

I’m 23 and have lived in Peterborough since I was born. I currently live in a small town just outside of Peterborough, called Deeping. Growing up with 2 brothers I was always guaranteed to be a sporty kid and during school I loved PE and was part of the running, netball and football team.

Since I was 8 years old, I have played competitive football for my local teams Deeping Diamonds and Netherton Football Club. Last football season I decided to progress and I signed for Peterborough United Ladies FC. Although the professional league is 2 steps up in my playing career, I have enjoyed my first season with the club and can’t wait for many more.

What was your first job?

I started my first job when I was 16, as a waitress at my local fish and chip shop. After sixth form, I went on to do an apprenticeship in travel consulting.

What is a typical day like for you at work?

In these times a typical day has been very strange when working from home. I take calls and receive emails from existing clients who require assistance, as well as calling them regularly to see how they are getting on.

Even though I’m still a fairly new member to the Sports Booker team I feel that I have built a nice relationship with my client base. I also try to reach out to new clients who I think can benefit from the Sports Booker software.

What’s it like working for Sports Booker?

I started working for Sports Booker at the end of March, this was during the Coronavirus pandemic, so I am yet to get into the office to meet my colleagues. It has been a very weird start, but I am so glad I have been given the opportunity to work for this company, as I have learnt so much within the last 2/3 months and I can’t wait to progress.

How do you relax after a hard day’s work?

After work, I find the best way to relax is to do a workout and to go for a walk. I have been enjoying home workouts since the gyms have closed and I make sure I stay fit for the next season of football. I find working out and going for walks really helps me unwind after a busy day at work.

What’s the best advice you have been given?

Not to take life for granted – A lot of things in my life have taught me not to take family, friends and opportunities for granted and if you want to do something do it before it’s too late.

What’s something you’ve always wanted to do?

I have always wanted to travel and as a kid, I always loved going on holiday. My dream places to travel would be South-east Asia, Australia and South America.

Who inspires you?

My Mum inspires me, we lost her when I was 11 years old, but growing up I have learnt how much everyone loved her, she was so kind-hearted and would do anything for anyone she was close too. She was also such a strong person, raising me and my brother and when she fell ill, she continued to stay so strong and smiled every time we would visit her.
